Here we go

I have gone back and forth for a few days on whether I wanted to start this blog or not, I guess you see what happened. I really just want to share and maybe even encourage as we walk through this crazy thing called life. In an attempt to not overload you with information I have left a lot of the detail sections of this page pretty vague, stick around and you will probably find out plenty about the Headricks.

Let’s start with a little re-cap of our weekend…

Friday afternoon we hit the road for the first 5 hour stretch of a 10 hour road trip to Chattanooga, TN. I am a consultant with Thirty-One Gifts and the founder and CEO of our company was speaking at an event there, although 550 some odd miles is not close I jumped at the chance to hear her speak while she was that “close”.

As you can imagine since I am 7.5 months pregnant we made quite a few stops along the way for me to use the restroom, this was my favorite –

Huff’s Grocery in Franklin, TN

The only problem with stopping here for a restroom break, was that their restrooms are port-a-potties (needless to stay we stopped again in about 10 minutes), but it was a neat little store to check out. I noticed next to the register there was a lunch meat and cheese counter and from the looks of their Facebook page, their sandwiches are popular with the locals. I spotted something in the store that I had not seen in a while, candy cigarettes, I am somewhat surprised they still make these, at just .59 these were a steal!

I will confess that I did not pay great attention to the route that our GPS had planned to take us on and I was surprised when I got to add another state visited to my list, the interstate took us just a little ways into Georgia, although I have flown over it I had never driven into the state, so of course I took the obligatory tourist photo.

The hands down best part of our trip (or any trip) is time spent with friends and we have the best ones! We headed back west as soon as the event was over to see faces that we don’t get to see near often enough. The first photo is the Fowler 5 (one seems to have escaped all the photos), they are true friends, the kind you might not speak to for a month, but you pick up right where you left off. They are the undiscovered, unofficial Chip and Joanna Gaines and I can’t wait to feature their completed farmhouse on the blog. The second photo is the same kind of friend, our lives are both about to change in big ways, by November I will have a baby girl and in February she will trade “Miss” for “Mrs.”!

It was a whirlwind trip including 20 hours in the car and not a lot of sleep, but it was definitely worth it.

“Don’t waste your time being what someone wants you to become, in order to feed their list of rules, boundaries and insecurities. Find your tribe. They will allow you to be you, while you dance in the rain.”

  1. Yay! Road trips are good fun but when you can do it with your hubby it’s great. Then again “pregnancy bladder” would have driven me crazy lol. We went to London when I was about 7 months pregnant and I ended up finding a bench to sit on while Chris explored one part of the exhibition because I was shattered and my feet were starting to hurt lol.
550 miles isn’t far for you but from my house to drive for that would get me into Scotland! How mad is that lol. (I just looked up Bedford to Inverness and that’s 504 miles!)
